My study sample is the part-time teachers of Ming-nan dialect in the municipal and private elementary schools, including the full-time teachers in charge of section chief, full-time teachers not in charge of section chief (the substitute teachers, intern teachers and those without taking the required 36-hour compulsory Min-nan training courses are not included). The number of elementary schools in Kaohsiung City and County are estimated 241, teachers 8863. they are the populations, which are divided into four regions by sampling: 300 teachers in Kaohsiung City, 280 teachers in the Fun-shan District, 155 teachers in Gang-shan District, 150 teachers in Chi-shan District. The total number of questionnaires is 855. The statistical methods used are “The Questionnaire of work stress and coping strategies for the Min-nan Part-time teachers,” in which covers the chart of work stress, chart of coping strategies and personal information. The questionnaires returned are 843, which covers 95%. The invalid samples are 258; non-responding samples are 33; the valid samples are 552. The percentage returned is estimated 65%. The statistical methodology include descriptive statistics、product-moment correlation, one-sample t test, one-way ANOVA, multivariate analysis of variance. From the analysis and discussion, the conclusion of this study can be as follows: A. The part-time Min-nan teachers in the elementary school tend to be more able to take pressures towards the status quo of work stress. B. B. The part-time Min-nan teachers in the elementary school tend to be more indirect in terms of the coping strategies. C. The variances from different backgrounds of the part-time Min-nan teachers, in terms of the work stress, have subtle differences in each level or in general. D. The variances from different backgrounds of the part-time Min-nan teachers, in terms of the coping strategies, have significant differences in each level or in general. E. The interaction between variances from different backgrounds and the work stress, in terms of the coping strategies, does not have significant difference. From the conclusion above, this study gives suggestions for the part-time Min-nan teachers in elementary schools, the chiefs in any educational institutions in terms of theory and practice.
