Abstract
This study aims to investigate the level of consumption satisfaction of parents of different variables (including: identity, age, family income, educational background, occupation) on their children attending English cram schools. Adopting the questionnaire research method, this study takes 640 parents of elementary school children who have attended English cram school programs at each administrative district in Kaohsiung city. A questionnaire “Study on the level of consumption satisfaction of elementary school children parents on after-school English cram schools” is established. The questionnaire includes two subscales: Variable of Backgrounds of Cram School and Level of Consumption Satisfaction. Statistical analysis methods including descriptive statistics, chi-square test, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA are adopted. This study is divided into five chapters: Chapter One: Introduction to describe the motives of this study; Chapter Two: Literature Review to compile and organize relevant theories and studies; Chapter Three: Research Design and Implementation to explain the research tool and analysis methods adopted in this study; Chapter Four: Data Analysis and Discussions to analyze the questionnaire data through SPSS; Chapter Five: Conclusions and Suggestions to present the findings and conclusions so as to provide suggestions for the owners of cram schools as reference.
Major findings of this study are:
1.On the background variable: A majority of parents have a bachelor degree and their occupations are mostly in the service industry.
2.The highest “level of consumption satisfaction” of parents is on the qualification of teachers.
3.There is no significant difference between background variables (including identity, age, family income, educational background and occupation) and the level of consumption satisfaction.
4.The highest level of consumption satisfaction of cram school student parents is on chain schools.
5.There is an interactive effect on the occupation type of background variables of parents and different backgrounds of cram schools in terms of the level of consumption satisfaction.
6.There is no significant difference on different background variables of parents and different backgrounds of cram school (region and convenience) in terms of the level of consumption satisfaction.
According to the findings of this study, the following suggestions are made for parents and owners of cram schools:
A.Suggestions for the parents
1.Parents who are military officers, civil servants and teachers should understand more about the characteristics, teaching philosophy and the qualification of teachers of English cram chain schools to serve as a reference when making decisions.
2.Fathers are suggested to understand English cram chain schools in depth.
3.Parents are suggested to encourage children to reinforce their study of English in order to improve their international competitiveness
B.Suggestions for owners of English cram schools
1.Regular cram schools are suggested to establish English classes to build the image of chain brand names.
2.English cram school owners are suggested to improve the qualification of teachers in order to raise the level of consumption satisfaction of parents.
3.Cram schools are suggested to build good images through the word-of-mouth among parents.
