Also, it studies the formation of the current landscape of Anping Harbor and the process and results. Anping Harbor is a source of the earlier development in western Taiwan. It is also a door to the world economic system. It is evident that its economic changes affect Tainan’s economic development tremendously. As a historical site of Taiwan, Anping Harbor, in spite of a variety of ups and downs, has now become a vital element in the development of Tainan City. Due to the increasingly larger deposit of mud in the harbor, the position of fishing industry has gone from bad to worse, resulting in becoming a sub-port of Kaohsiung Port. It was not until the development project of Form 5 Rezoning and the Anping Industrial Zone that the new port of Anping Kun Shen Lake got started. The newly-built Anping Harbor in 1979 overlapped in its function with Port of Kaohsiung. As a result, there was some limitation to the development. In 1997, Anping Harbor was claimed by Ministry of Transportation as the auxiliary port of International Port of Kaohsiung. At the end of the year 2002, Anping Harbor was proclaimed an official port. Since then, the waterfront landscape of Anping Harbor has had a significant change. The thesis is focused on the recreation of Anping Harbor and the study of its landscape. By means of questionaires and face-to-face talk with locals, this study has already shed new light on Anping Harbor, making it a more symbolic and specific landscape.
