ABSTRACT
The main purpose of this study was to investigate, analyze, and discuss the process of applying technology skill in making lantern and the solving strategies when students in senior grades of elementary school found problem during each activity. This study adopted qualitative research, and the main subject of this study were focus on students in senior grades of elementary school. It took six month during the period of research, the researcher analyzed data by observing, interviewing, investigating the research notes and collecting the relative documents. The researcher analyzed students’ solving strategies when they met various problems by using five stages in making lantern. The five stages in making lantern: (1) To design draft model.(2) To bind framework.(3) To install light bulb. (4) A dynamoelectric design.(5) To stretch cloth on the framework. From applying technology skill in making lantern, the researcher investigated the problem occurring and the inspiration of idea that searched workable strategies through real operation. Then, the researcher attempted to study how to get these strategies, and distinguished problems that students seek effective method to solve when students learned to apply the technology skill. The conclusions of this study were shown as below:
1.Grade 5th and 6th students of the elementary school learned ten strategies in the decorative lantern process to solve the problems:a. Books Consult、b. Cooperative learning、c. Information search、d. Imitative learning、f. Teacher instructs、g. Memory recollects、h. Tools utilize、i. Trial and error、j. Video recording teaching、k. Peer group learning.
2. There are five skills that come from family, school, information science and technology, community and student to solve strategies.
