Many of the design and welding conditions responsible for the poor performance of moment frame connections in the Northridge earthquake are also presented in the link to column connections in the Eccentrically Braced Frames(EBFs). A large number of experimental investigations on the performance of weld moment connections have been conducted in the US after the Northridge earthquake. However, the experimental data on the performance of link-to-column connections in EBFs are seldom found. This research aims at investigating the cyclic performance of middle length link-to-H column connections. There are five specimens divided into two different link length categories. Three specimens are designed with the link length of =1.4m (M1-Series),and the other two of =1.6m(M2-Series). Two different link beam web-to-H column connections details are tested.One is connecting the beam web to the shear tab by bolts. the other is connecting the beam web to the column by groove welds. Based on the test performance of five specimens, difference in the behaviors and failure patterns of middle length links beam-to-H column connections under cyclic load, resulted from different link length﹐beam web to column connections and beam flange to column connection such as flange cover plates and Reduced Beam Sections (RBS) may be distinguished﹐for the reference of future design.
