In recent years due to the trend of upsizing on container ships, the major container port in order to attract vessels berthing, the competitiveness is more intense. The purpose of this article is exploring the container carrier’s vessels berthing in Kaohsiung port when the ship important impact on demurrage factor and taking ship’s berthing information of certain carrier as a targeted analysis example, and follow-up by the major carriers and container terminal operators, carry on the analysis of the factor of demurrage factor. After this paper summarized the information found examples: affects ships of the Kaohsiung port demurrage factors, can be broadly categorized as "ship moving, container terminal operations, the port operations, shipping document work" a total of four major items, and after application of statistical analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process, finally demonstrated: ship demurrage factor in Kaohsiung port, the container terminal operations is the most influential factor. In this paper, the results could provide the Harbor bureaus, container carriers, and other relevant for shortening the ship berthing time in Kaohsiung port, and total operation cost could be also reduced in the future.
