Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 應用物理研究所 === 96 === We investigate the mean-field solutions of a binary mixture of trapped atomic Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC). The miscibility of this quantum fluid system is investigated for a general choice of experimental parameters. From symmetric properties of the G.P. equation, we argue that it is useful to group the parameters of the theory into two categories: (1) the intrinsic properties of each component, such as scattering lengths, and etc; (2) interspecies scattering length,a12 , which is symmetric under a permutation of the condensates in the Hamiltonian. Using the steepest decent method we solve the coupled GP equations numerically and find a simple phase diagram a12 versus ax, where ax are the parameters of type (1), illustrating the properties of phase separation of the mixture.
