碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 土木與水資源工程學系研究所 === 96 === The general boiler was used in order to produce the vapour for making, sterilizing or kinetic energy, but its oil consumption was quite heavy. Because of economizing on fuel, it would be savable a lot of produce cost in an era of high oil price. If the waste steam could be retrieved and recycled from the boiler, not only could save the oil using and the produce cost, but also could reduce the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). The conception enabled us to obtain many benefits and it was worth popularizing to public. This research used the small-scale boiler of the general hospital as example. A preheat barrel was installed around the stack of boiler to retrieve the waste heat from stack discharge. It would heat cold water in preheat barrel as hot water, and then the hot water was utilized to get the energy-conserving result. In order to investigate the efficiency of saving water and energy of the boiler system after improving, we observed the temperatures, water consumption and fuel consumption of the preheat barrel and carried on comparative analysis for fuel and water consumption at different water temperatures in the preheat barrel.
