Abstract
The purpose of the study was to understand the lived experience of matrilocal men. Using the hermeneutic phenomenology methodology, this study intended to interpret and discover the nature of such lived experience and the profoundly hidden meanings. Purposive sampling was used to recruit the participants. And the semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted to collect interviewing texts. This study had included eight texts from four interviewers.
Through the thematic analysis, five essential themes were identified. They were (a) We chose the living places for the realistic purposes; (b) We didn’t need to worry about the parents, so we could live independently; (c) We needed to reconstruct the living net ; (d) The parents-in-law and us helped and respected each other; (e)We needed to take care of the parents and parents-in-law sincerely.
At the end of this study, the researcher provided further discussions, suggestions, and personal reflections.
