Subjects for the study included 750 parents and their children studying in elementary schools in Chiayi. The data was analyzed through parents’ beliefs in children’s temperament scale and children’s problem scale, together with multivariate statistical analysis, cor-relation analysis and canonical correlation analysis. The results are as follows: 1. The significant differences in children's temperament resulted from gender, socioeconomic status and family structures. 2. The significant differences found among children’s problem behaviors were related to gender, parents’ marital status, socioeconomic status and family structures. 3. The canonical correlation existed between children’s temperament and their problem behaviors. Activity level and quality of mood were the key characteristics affecting children’s behavior problems.
