Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 應用數學系研究所 === 96 === In this paper, we will introduce a method to estimate the distance between two closed curves on regular surface. In order to estimate the distance effectively on the computer, we digitize the surface to triangular mesh. Our method to estimate the distance between two closed curves is manating several distinct rays outwardly from one of two curves, like sunshine. Every ray is displayed by a geodesic since the minimal path on the surface is a geodesic. We find the minimum distance from these rays (geodesic paths) touching the other curve.
