The mycelial growth of the N. viridulus ranged from 15-35 oC and the optimum temperature for sporulation and germination were found at 25 oC. The optimum growth of this fungus was found when it was cultured on SMA+Y medium; at pH 7, on maltose and on peptone, respectively. Hydrolyte enzymes such as protease, lipase, chitinase and amylase, were present when tested with specific culture media at 25 oC. However, the activities of lipase (C14), trypsin , chymotrypsin, β-glucuronidase, α-glucosidase andα-fucosidase did not presented by API ZYM assay system. N. viridulus was not grown on the medium containing fungicides of 50% benomyl WP, 22.7% dithianon SC, 50% prochloraz Mn WP or 65% Dodine WP–media at 18 days after inoculation. N. viridulus was also not growth on the media containing insecticides 85% carbaryl WP or 50% cartap WP–media 18 days after inoculation. However, above 2×106 conidia/ml conidia of N. viridulus were appeared on the media containing on 2% abamectin EC, 40.64% carbofuran SC, 2.8% cyhalothrin EC, 40% carbosulfan WP or 44% dimethoate EC–insecticides media 12 days after inoculation. But culture on media containing 90% methomyl WP, 9.6% imidacloprid SL, 4.95% fipronil FP and 99% narrow range oil EC–resulted in a low concentration of conidia. Only Cryptotympana atrata among 11 insects was infected by N. viridulus for its pathogenicity with 25% mortality. The above data have indicated that N. viridulus has a narrow host range.
