So, the offer of additional evidences for taxonomy is really in need, especially on wood anatomy. In this study, wood anatomic characters of 17 native species of Eurya were studied. Both gross features and microscopic structures were examined and photographed from different sections and macerated materials. Description on general features and microcharacters of each species were presented. Data were then analyzed with cluster methed and F/V ratios were also counted. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The general wood anatomic characters of Eurya are : diffuse porous, pores solitary or 2-3 in multiple, intervessel pits opposite, vessel-elements with oblique perforation plate with numerous scaraliform bars; with fiber-tracheids; without libriform fibers and septate fibers; with scanty longitudinal parenchyma; rays uniseriate and multiseriate. 2. The cluster analyses based on the Euclidian distance equation and wood anatomic character showed that Taiwan Eurya could be distinctly demarcated into 17 species with critical coefficient value at 16.03, but the discrimination among ranks of sections and series were indistinct. It also showed that their wood anatomic characters were highly similar. 3. The F/V ratio (ratio of length of accompanying fiber to vessel element) in this genus was from 1.285 (E. glaberrima) to 1.747 (E. septata). It also showed the primitive wood anatomic characters of Eurya. In this paper, descriptions on general feature and microscopic characters as well as color photographs of each species were presented. And an indentification key was presented. These could be useful to the sysmatic classification and wood identification for Eurya. Fu-Yuan Lu 呂福原 學位論文 ; thesis 75 zh-TW
