Because the small or precision-longtype workpieces are not suitable for cutting work by two different machines, they need to be operated by the specific multiple tasking machining very much. Currently this type of multiple tasking machining in Taiwan is only 31% of the total CNC cutting machines, and most of them are still imported. Therefore this study is focused on the small and special-form workpieces which are not suitable for “tool-moving-type turning machine” and provides the new idea of “center-moving-type turning and milling center.”(Swiss-type turning center) In addition to the turning work , with a power tool it can also do the milling and drilling work on the external diameter of the workpiece to combine different cutting processes at one machine , in hoping that this can raise customers’ satisfication of the aboved mentioned cutting works and increase the market share of the ”center-moving-type turning and milling center .”And also , it is hoped that in the future this type of imported machines can be replaced by domestic ones。 The practical cutting result proved that the precision of the workpiece of this study has fulfilled the specification . The total cutting time has been reduced 40% in comparison with the traditional cutting machine . The machine cost has been reduced about 20% comparing to imported machine , therefore even the imported machine has the quality advantage , it can still be expected that the study machine is competitive to imported in the market.
