We investigate the impacts of earnings management, finance, internal capital market and productive efficiency on asset sales. We find (1) The firms will manipulate earnings through asset sales. (2) Asset sales are negatively correlated with the firm size. This result implies that small firms tend to sell assets to obtain funds, because they have higher financing cost or more difficult to finance. (3) There is no significant relationship between asset sales and internal capital market. (4) Asset sales are negatively related to produce efficiency. This suggests the asset sales in Taiwan are in order to adjust the firm size to enhance the productive efficiency. 林淑惠 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW
