The section of execution is the last sector but the most important one. “The purpose of imprisonment is to reform the convicted criminals to adapt to live in society.” To educate and assist each criminal to lead a new life, the correctional offices spend a great deal of time and make painstaking efforts. The criminal correction tends to be miscellaneous, toilsome, tedious, and even dangerous. However, the correctional offices didn’t get recognition and praise the deserved in the past, which severely damaged the enthusiasm and morale they put in their working as well as the effect of correction. Therefore, more care and encouragement should be given to the correctional offices to understand the relationship between the quality of their working life and organizational commitment, so as to improve the effectiveness of criminal correction. The correctional officers of the correctional institutions in the central area have been taken as the objects of this research. In addition to constructing the frame and assumption of this research on the discussion of documents, a questionnaire has been adopted, which contains the basic data of correctional offices, quality of working life and organizational commitment. Among the collected questionnaires, 557 are valid samples. They were analyzed by SPSS for Windows 12.0 statistics software package with a descriptive statistics , t-test , one-way ANOVA , Pearson's product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis. Based on the analysis , the results are as follows: 1. In the aspect of quality of working life, 54.1% of the correctional officers of the correctional institutions in the central area think criminal correction is full of challenges, and they give respect and acceptance to the attitude of the competent leaders. However, when it comes to the Duty Allowance of Salary and Welfare, the satisfaction degree falls to the lowest level. In addition, most of them think the working pressure is heavy and they always feel tired after work. 2. In the aspect of organization commitment, the correctional officers of the correctional institutions in the central area are loyal to their work and they are willing to receive education or training to improve their working performance. However, the rate of officers with the intention of continuing working in the correctional institutions is relatively low. 3. There is no distinct difference in quality of working life for officers with different marital and position status. However, the quality of working life is obviously different for officers with different age, working years, educational background, duty category, and service area. 4. There is no distinct difference in organizational commitment for officers with different marital and position status. However, the organizational commitment is obviously different for officers with different ages, working years, educational background, duty category, and service area. 5. The quality of working life for officers is in direct proportion with their organizational commitment. 6. Improving conditions on working recognition, salary and welfare and working content will help improve organizational commitment of the correctional officers, among which the improvement in quality of working life will be the most predictable.
