The results may enable students to cultivate various learning strategies and become self-regulated learners. By using cluster sampling method, the data were collected with the valid 1250 questionnaire from selected 27 vocational high schools and analyzed by descriptive statistics, one way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and χ2 . The findings were summarized as follows: 1. When teachers used student-centered method, students tended to adopt positive instrumental help-seeking behavior to seek for help. 2. Vocational high school students preferred the help-seeking behavior in an instrumental way to ask help from their peer students. 3. Those who had stronger self-esteem use instrumental way to ask for help, while student with lower self-esteem tended to avoid asking for help. According to the main findings and the conclusion of the thesis, the related suggestions would be proposed to education institutions, schools, teachers and students.
