The Female Fans of Korean Dramas in Taiwan: Examining their viewing experience and identification process

碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 傳播研究所 === 96 === With high-quality production, Korean Dramas become very popular in Taiwan. This study attempts to examine the viewing experience of the female fans of Korean dramas in Taiwan. Two methods, focus group discussions and intensive interviews, were adopted to collect data for the study. Using purposely sampling, this study selected 20 females who were regular viewers and who were also classified as the fans of Korean Dramas as the study sample. The data analysis shows that the reasons these subjects offered for viewing Korean Dramas were very different from those fans of other types of dramas, in particular, from those fans of Japanese dramas. Furthermore, these respondents also obtained various pleasures from viewing Korean Dramas, which is consistent with the findings of past studies regarding the viewing experiences of the fans of other types of programs. More detailed findings were discussed in the thesis.
