In this study, a qualitative research method is adopted to interview five adolescents with physical disabilities. The result is analyzed by the narrative analysis method and the principle of holistic-content and hermeneutic circle of narrative research. The main findings are as follows: First, the challenges encountered by the adolescents with physical disabilities include: 1) personal factors: facing the fact of being disabled, poor social relationship and worry for the future; 2) family factors: family crisis, family conflicts and negative family dynamic, 3) social factors: discrimination, bully and teasing in school. Second, the overcoming factors of the challenges include: 1) personal factors: performance in study, self-awareness, self-reflection, self-resilience, active participation in community and social activities, the desire to be independent, successful experiences, having a goal in life and role model; 2) family factors: love and support from family, parents’ positive characters, comfortable home living environment, parenting style, supportive family life experiences and positive family dynamic; 3) social factors: care and encouragement from resource persons (such as teacher, peer, good friend, social worker, counselor and etc), support from social institution (such as providing social and counseling services), and influence from public media; 4) other factors: the concept of ‘I am not the worst’,religion and fatalism. Finally, based on the findings of the study, suggestions for future research and counseling services for adolescents with physical disabilities are provided. Hsiao Wen 蕭文 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 137 zh-TW
