Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 藝術研究所 === 96 === This thesis studies on transformation of dog’s figures of Su Wong-Shen’s artworks from 1988 to 2006. We interpret his artworks in cultural and social ways by using iconology. We start from Su Wong-Shen’s life, creation experiences and creation types to discuss the characteristic of Su Wong-Shen’s creation and to analyze ideas in culture about evolution of dog’s figures and then investigate the relation between dog’s figures, Su Wong-Shen’s life experience and social atmosphere, trying to interpret variety meaning of Su Wong-Shen’s dog’s figures.
Su Wong-Shen’s artworks reflect contemporary social phenomenon indirectly. He uses dog’s figures to mock human’s desire and violence in contemporary society. Dog’s characteristic of attack and tear demonstrate human’s rude and aggressive behavior. Dogs and animals represent greed, contemptibility, no benevolence and righteousness, which can be used to mock desire hidden behind human. In Su Wong-Shen’s artworks, we can see he uses real scenes and social events to describe phenomenon of human’s dark side and wounded place. The behavior of dog’s figures displays motivation and intention of Su Wong-Shen’s creations are all concerned about interaction between this place and human. Moreover, he tries to make us take a bird’s eye view to scan rationally dogs in the paints, in order to consider the suitable relationship between human and human, and between human and the place.
