Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 藝術研究所 === 96 === This thesis regards the visual imagery of Thangka in Taiwan as the study text, and tries to investigate the reason to cause these changes. Originally, Thangka is a production of Tibetan Buddhism that has blended with local folk beliefs and customs after being introduced into Taiwan. In advanced, such a blending produces lots of difference with traditional old Thangka not only in out looking or style but also in appliance, In order to prove these changes whether are caused by localization between intercultural fusion or not, except to investigate objectively in Taiwan, I also visited Tibet area for twice to observe the original arising place of Thangka and make interviews with local painters and the pointed out the final cause is Glocalisation. Thangka has become more and more popular among Tibetan Buddhists, museums, and collectors in Taiwan and all over the world. For matching the taste of people in Post-modern period, some cooperation and negotiation should be done in out looking, contents or styles of Thangka. Even in Tibetan area, there’s also a great change in recent years, The trend to direct the developmental concept of art industry with consumption and economy, some special ethnic artistries are encouraged by local government to make local people learn how to utilize the specificity of local culture, resource and ascendancy and then spread the exquisite of Tibetan arts, Tibetan Buddhism and even the Tibetan civilization to everywhere by means of the coming of the century of Globalization. As the contention of all-pervasive religions, it means people could get closer with Buddha dharma by pluralistic changes in Thangka arts or localization to be a common custom, On the other hand, such an artwork from foreign culture which has been judged by commercial bargains has become a challenge to its holly denotation as being an art for religion.
