Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 96 === As the research performance in academia is treated as one of indices for national competency, countries pay much attention to involve and put more resource to increase research performance. How to do the researches after scholars attain resources, to understand scientific publication status within specific field, we must observe from many aspects. For example, whether the country plays a leadership role in academia? Is there a special collaboration pattern in publications? What are popular research subjects recently? Such topics attract lots of scholars’ attentions. Scientometric Analysis and Bibliometric Analysis are therefore proposed for these purposes. Scientometrics and Bibliometrics are analysis for scientific production evaluation; it can also compare a country’s scientific research outputs.
Taiwan’s government is devoting to raise global competency in recent years from academic research, information, medical and many other industries. To compete with other prominent countries, we should consider our performance first. We take other countries as targets and compare with them through several indexes, thus we can know our strength and weakness reveal. This research focuses on the performance differentiation among Taiwan and other countries in the field of computer science. We’ll firstly state the development in computer science in Taiwan in recent five years, and then discuss the research trends among Taiwan, Asian countries and prominent countries represented as Group of Eight (G8). After all kinds of indices calculated, the evaluation will be presented through a system interface, so users can make a query and get the information they’re interested in.
Our research used different indices to analysis scientific publication, for example, publication quantity, collaboration patterns, popular subjects and research quality, to realize academic performance. To construct an integrated study for countries’ research performance evaluation, we created novel indexes to accomplish previous indexes. Our research found that, countries with large production are seldom equal to those who have strong impact in the research field. Taiwan, although with less production, have stronger impact compared to other countries. Our research suggested that Taiwan’s scholars can pay more attention in the application of cross discipline and try more collaboration with other countries, in order to increase the competency for Taiwan in computer science.
