But under the circumstances that the city develops, the space structure of the old urban area has to be forced to change. This city phenomenon includes the subject extensively, there are less and black researchers. So research this except push away to Da-chong space structure , old city of Tainan late forward at time axle, planning of the city street after especially focusing on the Japanese rule and opening up the course. Select sets of Da-chong districts and Mi districts on western Tainan, both with complicated new or old lamination street wide as case study. Method of using through the collection, ground book analysis statistics, on-site inspection building of the historical data etc. Through analysing and contrasting and doing a self-criticism to the phenomenon of western Tainan, in order to learn that the impact of modern urban planning on western Tainan. The content in the research includes four parts as fllowing： 1.Space structure of the old city of Tainan In the space composition of the system in the old city of Tainan, the Da-chong street districts and Mi street districts are in order to join inside and outside of the old city, led to the important route on the small north door by the street of centre of the city, the commerce is intensive from street to small north door and other places in the way cross of Mincyuan street, make this district become the important commercial door feeding through outside the city in the cross street of the centre of the old city of Tainan. In the original train of thought at random, the nodes of the life tunnels formed the main religious temples, and both sides along the Da-chong street and Mi street produced the street houses arranged 2.Modern urban planning in Tainan Japanese colonial government removed west city wall make the feeds through and is not separated by the district of city wall no longering of the city at first, in order to promote the development on the areas along Da-chong Street and Mi Street of western Tainan. And has established the up right and foursquare wide way of street like geometry with modern urban planning, the round ring moulds the new city and rules the axis with open up and build the new canal to set up the important node, used to shift the commercial position of the old traditional cross street of old city of Tainan. The traffic structure that the check form plans is to rely mainly on garage , stress the speed, efficiency, so the all straight intersection of the street, the main road adds secondary tunnel, association into the road system in good order. 3.Cadastral system of residential district were destroyed by urban planning Cause of the period of Japanese planning different at random of Ching Dynasty, two network intersection appear a lot of irregular scrappy wide street, new or old principal and subordinate relation of street the interconnected system equal to, make the traffic system fuzzier and confused . It is incongruous that the areas along Da-chong Street and Mi Street of western Tainan in addition, the modern urban planning and already has trains of thought , make the plan street that has already opened up cause the brokenness of the cadastral in the block instead, produce a lot of area narrow and small, the boundary of a piece of land twists , develop limited deformed parcel. 4.The building of urban area is developed and stayed cool slowly Massives difficult to use evolve from the important street in succession, cause the areas along Da-chong Street and Mi Street of western Tainan in disorder. The space along the street is removed the vacant lot , rebuild left unused and shown the ruined street houses to make up even more, have lost strength of character which there should be in traditional building to derive for the shop front of iron sheet instead. Building that build newly later limit deformity massif, and grew into the acute angle high building shrugging one's shoulders. Because planning, rashly open up improper to is it develop and stay cool slowly to make city west district building. The focal point use present situation, and future impact that might produce through building, to do a self-criticism and suggestion to modern urban planning.
