Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系專班 === 96 === After the second World War, Pingtung City established the developmental foundation by continually modifying the urban planning in the Japanese occupied era ,that the historical researches of Taiwan’s urban development were mainly started by Japanese occupied Taiwan. Retracing to the modern progresses of Pingtung City, the modern urban spatial structure which the colonial government imported from the western countries has been nearly a hundred year till now. To probe the effects of the urban planning in the Japanese occupied era and the National Government era towards the spatial structure of Pingtung City around the Second World War and its different modes of spatial plans that are the proposes of this research. The literature of history, as the fundation of this thesis, as well as the comparison, induction and analysis of field study which are used as the research methods are to investigate the relationship between the urban planning and the environment of Pingtung City in the Japanese occupied era and the National Government era around the Second World War and to compare both modes of their spatial plans. There are four main structures of this study: 1.Natural Environment and Humanity Background The exploitation history of the Pingtung plain should be comprehended before observing the development of streets in Pingtung City; so that, the natural environment and the historical and humane movements are the essential factors of the environmental development. Therefore, the collection and the induction of literature can be used to understand the forming of habitation, the population composition, and industrial activities towards the developmental relation between the Pingtung plain and Pingtung City. 2. Spatial System of Habitation The internal connection of habitation, the operating structure of human society, is formed by people and their relationships, just as geographers who stress on maintaining the area element of the relationships mentioned above.In the result, this study explores the relationship between the northern areaand the habitation on the urban streets of Pingtung City to realize the characteristics of the habitation system in this area, through its developmental contexts and transportation network. 3. The Development of Urban Streets of Pingtung City Before and After the Second World War The development of urban streets of Pingtung City after the Second World War can be separated for two phases: the formulation in the Japanese occupied era before the war and the expanded urban planning and urban renewal after the war. Thus, for more specific, this study aims at the contents of urban planning in several periods, before the Qing Dynasty abandoned Taiwan, the initial, early, middle, and later stage that Japanese occupied Taiwan, and the National Government, for explanation. 4. Mode of Spatial Development Compare the modes of spatial development of Pingtung city before the Second World War with which after the War by distinguishing the roles of locations, the modes of street organizations and the functions of space using.
