Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 物理學系碩博士班 === 96 === This work presents a photo-addressable memory transmissive liquid crystal display (PTLCD) that can be operated without power supply, and conductive layer. The mechanism is based on the photo-induced adsorption alignment layer of azo dyes, which then align LCs. The adsorbed dye alignment layer can be re-oriented by changing the direction of the writing laser beam and heating the sample simaltaneously. This transmissive liquid crystal display is extremely simple to fabricate, and can be optically written, erased and re-written for ~20 times with a contrast larger than 5.
