The purposes of motorcycle parking charge are to effectively improve parking order, reduce demand of motorcycle parking spaces and reflect the costs of parking spaces. Motorcycle is one of the major commuting modes in Taiwan because of its mobility and convenience. Lots of motorcycle in Taipei City cause serious traffic congestion, safety and scenery problems. It is an important issue about how to reduce demand of parking spaces wherever there is not enough supply of parking spaces. Finally, this research is aimed to find an optimal pricing scheme to change customer’s mode choice and parking duration behaviors and improve traffic congestion and parking order problems. This research uses multiple regression analysis to estimate the motorcycle parking demand function in the Nan-Yang area. Supply curve of parking spaces is horizontal aggregation by summing the public and private-own parking spaces. Data are obtained from the Department of Transportation (DOT), Taipei City Government. After the demand curve and supply curve are calibrated and obtained, this research uses social welfare theory to explore customer surplus, producer surplus, and total social welfare in various test scenarios. Finally, this research mark up customer surplus, producer surplus, total social welfare and difference of social welfare in the test situations. Results can provide the government agencies with a basic referral in establishing a desirable parking pricing policy. Shou-Ren Hu 胡守任 學位論文 ; thesis 107 zh-TW
