Five Central Asian States which have been independent since the collapse of the Soviet Union are so attractive by their unique geographical features and abundant oil resource, that big powers contend for developing multilateral relations with them and Central Asia become the new geopolitical focus. The end of the Cold War led international situation to change so deeply, including breakdown of the bipolar system, increase of ethnic conflict, acceleration of regional economic integration, vibrancy of international organizations, that these affect the decision-making of each government’s national security policy. Given the new situation, security issues are not only cross-border, but promoting their level form domestic to regional or global. At the same time, the contents of security issues expand form military to politics, economics and sociology. This thesis aims to answer three main questions based on the new security concept. First, under the complex regional situation, how US, Russia and China complete and cooperate depending upon their geopolitical strategic thought. Second, when, how and what they get benefit or protect themselves. Third, how Central Asian States response and develop in the international context. 巨克毅 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 133 zh-TW
