碩士 === 明志科技大學 === 工業管理研究所 === 96 === By the awaking of design which is taken seriously by industry, industrial designer becomes the most powerful brain just after the electronics techie, so the department of industrial design in universities and colleges is mushroomed. However the top executives profess the quandary of seeking a good designer. It shows the drop between the academic circle and the industry because of the weak connection of the two. In this research we probe into the discrepancy of the view on the skills of a designer in the academic circle and the industry. First, we find out what ability scholars think a designer should have in academic circle by reviewing documents, records, and the technical literature. Then we take that as the foundation to interview industry designers in the different business type of electronics and informatics deeply to understand what a designer should be in industry. Furthermore, we can compare what’s the difference. Also, we analyze and interpret the appearances in industrial of design by the process of interview, and form the theory of the demand and require in industrial design which could be an index of developing designer in academic circle. The research found as follows. In academic circle, there are seventeen indexes which put analysis and project as the most important. In industry, we can see three parts; OBM contains thirty-fore indexes that see personal initiative first; ODM, there are nineteen indexes and the internal cogitation is mainly; OEM, which stresses on external skills, has seventeen indexes. However, in the comparison of industry designer skills between academic circle and industry presents the most difference in precept is OEM type. It means the training in the academic circle is trended to OBM and ODM at present. Therefore, the discovery and the conclusion could be the direction for training in the academic circle.
