The hybridization and fragmentation of a role may occur the indeterminacy of gender, and then makes the masquerade became noticed. Masquerade can be viewed as a result of Postmodernism. In order to represent who the masqueraders want to play, they often appropriated and imitated from the roles in existence. In the process of transforming an existential role, the masqueraders often insult issues by parodied masquerade, and it is also a reflection of the counter-culture speciality of Postmodernism. The types of masquerade not only confine to the gender, but also include requirements for performing, art, design, and power getting. Successful masquerade results from appropriating others visual symbols, therefore, a figure after masquerading could be recognized and understood. In doing so, how to put the visual symbols of masquerade into artworks becomes very important. In conclude, this research is about the visual appearance of masquerade and “appropriation” of Postmodern art, and the design works are entitled as “Black Fairy Tales”. Educing the representative visual elements of a role who would be imitated, and then deconstructed and restructured them to make a masquerader be well known.
