Accurate knowledge of the output characteristics of PV modules is necessary for the design and derivation of high-performance PV inverter and maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm in PV system. A computer-aided automated measurement and verification system for characterizing the solar modules is proposed in this thesis to create the environment factor model (EFM) of PV modules as functions of incident irradiances, cell temperatures, and module tilt-and-azimuth angles. The hardware and software configuration of the system are described. Test results of a commercial panel (HIP-210NHE1) are included to evaluate the proposed system availability and effectiveness.
