The Matlab/Simulink platform is used to construct the mathematical model for the PEMFC with several parameters to be determined. By using the numerical methods of Taguchi Analysis Method, Concave Weighted Taguchi Method, and Genetic Algorithm, we can obtain the best estimated parameters which achieve the smallest errors between the numerical simulated output and experiment measured data. Then, the values of the obtained parameters are substituted into the constructed mathematical model of the PEMFC, the root mean square errors between the various numerical estimation and experiment measurement are computed, which are used to compare and verify the suitability of the conducted numerical methods. Also, the polynomial fitting method is adopted to investigate the effects of the working current and operation temperature on the output voltage. By using the polynomial fitting function polyfit in MATLAB, an approximated polynomial relationship between these three variables are acquired. This obtained polynomial equation in characterize the relationship between the output voltage of the fuel cell and the operating parameters, the current and temperature, can be effectively used in the future control system design for this type of fuel cell system.
