Description
Summary:碩士 === 弘光科技大學 === 環境工程研究所 === 96 === The purpose of this research is trying to investigate the possibility to use nano metal oxide-granular activated carbon (NM-GACs) for the removal of heavy metals and humic acid from wastewater. Three nano metal-GACs were prepared in this research, namely, nano Iron oxide-GAC (NF-GAC), nano Zinc oxide-GAC (NZ-GAC) and nano Aluminum oxide-GAC (NA-GAC). The scanning electron microscope images show there were metal oxides coated on the GAC surfaces. The coating amount of NF-FAC, NZ-GAC, NA-GAC are 80.23. 79.82 and 33.23 mg/g, respectively. The experimental result indicates NA-GAC has the highest Pb(II) adsorption capacity and NF-GAC has better adsorption for Cu(II) and Cd(II). The heavy metal adsorption capacity for various NM-GACs are Cu(II), Pb(II) > Cd(II). In binary metal systems, the sequence of affinity is Cu(II) > Pb(II) > Cd(II). The present of Cu(II) improved the adsorption amount of humic acid (HA) onto NF-GAC and GAC. This might due to the formation of Cu(II)-HA complex, and this complex is favored to be adsorbed. The present of HA did not increase the Cu(II) removal. This research also investigated various adsorption isotherm models. All of the single component models investigated in this research (Langmuir model, Freundlich model, Sips models ) were suitable. Among four binary models (Extended Langmuir model、Extended Freundlich model、Extended Sips models and IAST model ) investigated in this research, IAST is the best fit model for adsorption of heavy metals. However, three binary models could not effectively describe the adsorption of HA in Cu(II)-HA system.
