This research also examined if different gender, linguistic race, socialeconomic status and parents’ rearing attitudes would affect the attitudes of elementary school students toward the elders. Besides, the research also examined if school factors and contact experiences with the elders are related to the attitudes of children toward the elders. The participants of this research were the sixth graders in Miaoli County. The questionnaire was adopted for the research.The Attitudes of Elementary School Students toward the elders and the Related Factors Questionnaire includes “Background” , “School Factors” , “Contact Experiences with the Elders” , and “Scale of Attitudes toward the elders”. The effective sample were 473. The results of the research are as follows:(1)The elementary school students in Miaoli County have positive attitudes toward the elders;(2)Gender and linguistic race of the children are not related to the attitudes toward the elders;(3)Children from higher socialeconomic families have significant positive attitudes toward the elders than the lower ones;(4)Children whose parents’ rearing attitudes belong to the expediency kind have significant positive attitudes toward the elders than the authority ones;(5)School factors have significant positive relations with the attitudes toward the elders of the children;(6)The contact experiences with the elders have significant positive relations with the attitudes toward the elders of children. Based on the results mentioned above, some suggestions were proposed to educational institutes、schools and families in order to improve the attitudes of children toward the elders.
