Summary: | 碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 社會福利學系碩士班 === 96 === This study is mainly explored the mutual influence on the familial socioeconomic status, academic achievement and career choice for junior high students (Grade 7 to Grade 9). The main purposes of this study are: 1. To understand the current status of the familial socioeconomic status, academic achievement and career choice for junior high students; 2. To understand the difference in academic achievement for students with different backgrounds; 3. To understand the difference in career choice for students with different backgrounds; 4. To understand the difference in different academic achievement on the career choice; 5. To understand the difference in different familial socioeconomic status on the academic achievement; 6. To understand the difference in different familial socioeconomic status on career choice; 7. To explore the level of correlation among familial socioeconomic status, academic achievement and junior high students on career choice; 8. To provide the research results for related government and education competent authorities as the basis of reference. This study has adopted Grade 9 students of Hsinchu City in School 2007 as the research object, and used questionnaire survey approach to collect the research data. The method of sampling was the probability selection, and the total samples were 748 including 735 valid samples. Then, conducted an analysis on the collected data with using mean, standard deviation, t-Test, One-way ANOVA, Chi-square Test, Pearson product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis etc., and the researcher has generalized the research results as follows:
1.As for the familial socioeconomic status for junior high students
(Grade 7 to Grade 9) in Hsinchu City, most of them are middle
and lower level; in terms of the overall academic achievement,
the averaged score is about 58.38; after graduation, their
future goal is generally to advance higher education.
2.In terms of the academic achievement for junior high students, it
will be showed a significant difference in accordance with
different backgrounds, such as gender, number of brothers and
sisters, family structure and residential location, etc.
3.Although the gender, family structure and residential location for
junior high students didn’t show a significant difference in
terms of career choice; however, the number of brothers and
sisters did show a significant difference for them in terms of
career choice.
4.A significant difference existed between academic achievement and
career choice.
5.A significant difference existed between familial socioeconomic
status and academic achievement.
6.Familial socioeconomic status and career choice have not yet
reached a significant difference between them.
7.Significant positive correlation existed between academic
achievement and career choice for those students.
8.Significant positive correlation existed between familial
socioeconomic status and academic achievement for those students.
9.Background and familial variables and academic achievement
possessed slight prediction on career choice for those junior
high students.
