In such a busy world, religion offers peace for the body, mind and spirit. This study focuses on choices of religious practice of Buddhists, namely the choice of donning the robe or not. There are five chapters in this study. The first chapter, Introduction, includes the research motivation, research objective, literature review and research method. The second chapter, Donning the Robe, will discuss the experience of six Buddhist monastics, such as their encounters with Buddhism, views on being Buddhists, and their decision to don the robe. The third chapter, Staying as Householders, will discuss the experience of six Buddhist householders, including their encounters with Buddhism, views on being Buddhists, and their decision to remain as householders. The fourth chapter, Comparison and Analysis, will further the discussion on chapter 2 & 3. The fifth chapter is the Conclusion, which will offer a discussion on the research limit, research finding and suggestion for future research. Autonomy has become the religious belief of the present day. In such a busy world, religion offers peace for the body, mind and spirit. This study focuses on choices of religious practice of Buddhists, namely the choice of donning the robe or not.
There are five chapters in this study. The first chapter, Introduction, includes the research motivation, research objective, literature review and research method. The second chapter, Donning the Robe, will discuss the experience of six Buddhist monastics, such as their encounters with Buddhism, views on being Buddhists, and their decision to don the robe.
