Hence, concept creating is always restricted by designer’s inspiration and experience, and this circumstance causes the most uncontrollable factor in designing. In order to assist designers finding feasible and creative ideas quickly, using external search is an effective method. For the research purpose of assisting product design, this study constructs product concept database to stock the data from external search in regular form, and transforms these data into information which can be used in product design with breaking down into sub-function. In this research, data mining has been used to analyze the data from external search of concept development, as well as to find concept sets which have been used in product design, then design a new product with these sets.
