There is evidence shows that the Information the Technology Infrastructure Library(ITIL) implementation would improve the information service quality. It was also strongly promoted by the Institute for Information Industry and information service vendors in Taiwan. However, there is only few companies adopted ITIL in Taiwan. Thus, the goal of this study is to find out the factors influencing the adoption of ITIL in order to promote ITIL in Taiwan. Based on the Technology Acceptation Model(Davis, 1986), and the factors of diffusion of innovation (Rogers, 1983) ,and Li (2006), this study proposed an adoption model for ITIL. This model suggests that relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, facilitating conditions, dependence on IT and slack resource influence the ITIL adoption attitude, then to influence the ITIL adoption intention. Data were collected by 44 questionnaires from IT professionals with ITIL experiences. It was found from the result that the perceived relative advantage of ITIL and the slack resources in the organization would significantly influence ITIL adoption attitude. The implications for vendors are: to promote the sense that ITIL would bring relative advantage will help companies to adopt ITIL; they should focus on the companies who had enough resources to invest in ITIL. For researchers, this study provides a foundation for further research in this area.
