As in Taiwan, talk about Buddhism in terms of the development of propagation and its cultural structure, Shui-lu Ceremony is definitely something that can’t be passed over.    This thesis contends that the significance of the religious service is ritual to religious faith and social stability. Closely associated with the representation of ceremony, this contention further suggests that unfolding and spirit of this ritual cannot be completed without the assistance of Buddhist Chanfa. This phenomenon fully demonstrates the ritual conductor’s changing concepts for Buddhist tradition and the spirit of the service, revealing the society’s negligence for the spirit of the ceremony. With in-depth interviews, this thesis demonstrates the attitude of the Buddhist circle for the current ceremony, illustrated by the responses of the Buddhist monasteries towards the crises of commoditized ceremony. Providing positive suggestions for the prospective ceremony, this thesis concludes that the insistence on traditional Chanfa and the respect for the ritual rules are critical to pass on the legacy. 許鶴齡 2008 學位論文 ; thesis zh-TW
