Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 科技管理研究所 === 96 === This research based on the Technology Acceptance Model to examine two emerging Asian wireless cities, Taipei (Taiwan) and Singapore, utilizing the variables such as service content and quality, government policies, business models, and usage price to compare and explore the determinants of wireless fidelity consumer usage in both Taipei and Singapore.
Findings of this study suggest that government policies and business models utilized have the most significant influence on consumers’ usage intention in Taipei while the widely recognized variables, usage price and service content and quality, was not found to be correlated and significant in influencing Taipei’s consumers’ behavior. In contrast, in Singapore, all variables were found to be significant and relevant influencing consumer behavior, particularly the usage price has an absolute significant influence on consumers’ adoption intention. This suggests that coordination between government policies and business model applied is critical to bridge the gap between the introduction stage of an emerging technology and market demand of consumers’ usage (operating) knowledge.
In comparisons, this study also found that businesses should not over-emphasize on price strategy before relevant infrastructure (both software and hardware) is built. Instead, both the government policies and suppliers of wireless systems must reinforce on diffusing the knowledge during the introduction stage, thereby strengthening the demand side of the consumers’ usage (operating) knowledge to lead the industry into the growth stage.
