The features of this instrument is to exclude the influences of peripheral tissues by tracking the variation of blood pressure at critical location where the mean pressure in the blood vessel and the mean pressure measured on the skin are equal. Because impedances of blood vessel and peripheral tissues are decoupled, the displacement measured on the skin is the variation of vessel diameter. By identifying the impedance of the blood vessel, we can estimate the dynamic pressure in blood vessel. From twelve healthy subjects (20~28 years old), the mean errors for measuring impedances of blood vessel are less than 7.3 %, showing that measuring dynamic blood pressure and vascular impedances with the instrument is feasible. Consequently, impedances of blood vessel of the subjects of high blood pressure or BMI over 24 fall between 0.008 and 0.010 mmHg/μm, and impedances of blood vessel of the subjects of normal blood pressure or weight are within 0.004~0.006 mmHg/μm.
