A Study on the Relationships Among Fans’ Serious Leisure Characteristics, Their Motivations of Participation in Activities and Experiences：The Case of Singer Xue-you Zhang’s Fans

碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 土地管理所 === 96 === 　　This study was targeted at Xue-you Zhang’s fans as the subjects to analyze if any significant differences exist in their perceptions of serious leisure characteristics, motivations of participation in activities and experiences based on fans’ social economic attributes, and then to investigate the relationships among these three types of variables mentioned above. 　　Questionnaire survey was applied to collect data from the fans who participated in Zhang’s singing activities. The data were set up and analyzed by SPSS statistics software to verify hypotheses in this study. The results have shown that only partial differences were found in serious leisure characteristics, their motivations of participation in activities and experiences based on fans’ social economic attributes. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to extract factors from each of the above three perceptional aspects. Forty one items of serious leisure characteristics have resulted in seven factors, including: self-growth, career, effort and support, self-gratification, unique ethos, identity and persevere. Fourteen items of their motivations to participate in activities have resulted in four factors, including: the influence of interpersonal relationships, the inner leisure demands, affiliation to idol and attraction by idol’s characteristics. Sixteen items of experiences have resulted in three factors, including: spiritual involvement, self presentation and atmosphere of enjoyment. Pearson correlation analysis was applied to those factors, and the results have shown partial significant correlation among some factors. The Canonical correlation analysis was also applied to examine the relationships among factors derived from serious leisure characteristics, their motivations of participation in activities and experiences, and the results have displayed significant correlation among all these derived factors. It may provide an initial theoretical model for the explanation of fans’ behaviors as serious leisure when they participate in the relevant activities. 　　Finally, three suggestions based on the study results were presented for singer’s agent to organize his or her singing activities. In addition, some further study ideas were also proposed for follow-up researchers’ references in this concern.
