Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 事業經營研究所 === 96 === How to create and sustain competitive advantage for firms is an important issue. Prior research used the static analyses of industrial structure or organizational internal resources for understanding of competitive advantage. In contrast, this paper based on the perspective of dynamic capability proposed by Teece in 1997 to explore how firms to renew its competitive advantage in the face of environmental change. We draw on a case of Chungh Wa Picture Tubes (CPT) to investigate its resource allocations and strategic response abilities at two different stages. The findings show that CPT could appropriately respond to the environmental changes in the CRT period. However, mistaken investment policies, inefficient vertical integration, staffs’ transfer that postponing the management decisions, which resulted in incapability of responding environmental changes in the TFT-LCD period. Indeed, we examine why CPT has different strategic activity responses over the two stages. Finally, theory contributions and practical suggestions are presented.
