In the global growing trend for recreation, recreation economy will be the main industry in the future world. The implementation of two days off per week in Taiwan brings forth a prosperous development in the recreation economy. Recreation is now an important topic for the modern society. The Chinese often say that, “to rest is for to go further”. Taking a break from busy life and participating in recreational activities periodically, makes life more perfect and no regret.
Entrepreneurs, due to the global economic market, often sacrifice recreation for work. Recreation seems like a dream that is too far to reach. This study was based on domestic entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurs who work in the companies located on the Taiwan Central Science Industrial Park. Through interviews and in-depth discussions, their recreation activities and behaviors were collected, analyzed and categorized into the following research topics: business background, personality traits, life styles, and recreational behaviors:
Topic 1: Entrepreneurs with higher education tended to select international travel.
Topic 2: Entrepreneurs who started businesses from scratch prefer low-key recreational styles.
Topic 3: Successful entrepreneurs emphasize the importance of family life and schedule
recreational travel periodically.
Topic 4: Most entrepreneurs in recreational industry combine their interests for certain recreational
activities with work and start their own business.
Topic 5: The recreational activities enterprisers prefer were mostly object- and function- oriented.
Topic 6: Most entrepreneurs recognized that “health was the base for business development“,
Therefore , they paied attention to exercise and health.
Topic 7: Entrepreneurs tended to be adventurous and chose recreational experience that were
challenging and leaded to self-growth.
Topic 8: Most entrepreneurs'' vision for future recreation tends to be related to the nature and
pursuing a recreational life style that combines with work.
Topic 9: The most unforgettable recreational experience for an entrepreneur often comes from
unexpected journeys.
Topic 10: Entrepreneurs’ recreational behaviors show two extremes, either they were thrifty and
low-key or extremely luxurious.
