The major applications for the photochromic functional colorants
are in the field of optical memory. In material the past few decades, new materials utilized a combination of polymers and photochromic dyes for the high technology appcations , such as photochromic sunglasses, color filter photochromic fiber, ultraviolet indicator , or 3-D optical recording material and so on.
It pum UV light irracliation , spiropyran dyes change into the corresponding ring-open form resulten in a singl absorption peak in the visishe sange. If the applications need the special color like gray, it is necessary to mix two kinds or more of photochromic dyes. This investigation is aimed at the development of new dyes which may provide two absorption peaks after UV light irradiation . The genoral structure of the target Chromene shown below were preparal in this study and their iorresponding sing-open structure may provide the absorptions in the range of 460nm-520nm and 550nm-650nm
