Previous researches in misconception diagnose applied interview technology to discover the content of students’ misconception, but it spends too much time. According to the development of information technology computer-aided Pathfinder Networks becomes an objective and effective knowledge structure evaluation tool. Most of the study used Pathfinder Networks to represent students’ knowledge structure and provided a good validity to forecast students’ learning performance. While, Pathfinder Networks do not have the ability to diagnosis students’ misconceptions. To complement this drawback, the concept of conception inheritance relations provide an effective way to diagnose students’ learning misconceptions.
This study combined the Pathfinder Networks and the conception inheritance relations to develop a Misconceptions Diagnosis System. Teachers can apply this diagnosis system to define learning concepts, and the relationship among those concepts. After taking examination by this system can present and compare students’ knowledge structure with expert’s knowledge structure. Then this system can diagnosis individual student''s learning misconceptions and provide proper learning path to individual student.
