Traditional Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) assumes production process is perfect and continuous deliveries. But it is not practical, since in most practical settings due to process deterioration or other factors, the generation of imperfect quality items is inevitable. The following mathematical models are examined for EPQ model with rework and non-continuous: Model 1 deals with optimal batch size with no buyer’s inventory cost. Model 2 investigates the delivery time starts at the beginning of the rework process. Model 3 integrates buyer’s inventory costs into the aforementioned models and derivers the optimal batch size accordingly. The results of these models are verified, numerical examples are given, and the sensitivity of optimal batch size is provided to demonstrate its practical usage.
