Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 土木與工程資訊學系(所) === 96 === This research focuses on the failure modes of the intermediate supports of the fall prevention equipments (Horizontal Lifelines) The results experiments are compared with those of numerical simulations using ANSYS. Two kinds of experiments are performed, the static test and the dynamic drop test. The static test installed the intermediate support and applied a horizontal force. The force increased until the support failed. The results showed that the failure occurred when the force was between 6000 and 7000 N. The failure modes consist of local breaking on the main structure, tearing of the base plates, and local buckling of the main structure. The results of finite element analysis showed that the maximum stress reached yielding stress of the CNS-SS440 steel when the applied force was about 6500N which is comparable to the results obtained from experiments. The dynamic drop test installed two supports and the horizontal lifeline. An 85-kg sandbag was hooked on the lifeline and then dropped to simulate a falling incident. The results showed that the failure mode for static test is different from that in dynamic test sometimes. The effects of the span between supports and the materials of the lifelines on the failure modes were also investigated. The results of this research can provide insights for designing, retrofitting, and installing the intermediate supports.
