Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 醫務管理學研究所 === 96 === Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the leisure time physical activity (LTPA) and the self-rated health status in elderly Taiwanese. Methods: The present data were derived from the 2001 Taiwan National Health Interview Survey of subjects aged 65 years and above. The Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36) measures perceived health in eight areas. SF-36 Taiwan version was used in this study. Generalized linear model were applied to find out the determinants of self-rated health status. Results: After adjustment for covariates, total energy expenditure per week showed a gradient association with self-perceived positive health. Moreover, chronic medical conditions generally reduced SF-36 score in this elderly population. Increasing with age, lower education, or underweight elderly indicated a negative association with self-rated health status. Conclusion: This study emphasized the importance of increasing the level of leisure time physical activity for improvements of self-rated health status in this elderly population.
