Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 96 === This study applies data envelopment analysis (DEA) to evaluate the technical efficiency (TE), pure technical efficiency (PTE) and scale efficiency (SE) of 54 international tourist hotels (ITHs) in Taiwan. Most of literature discusses about the impact of internal factors on performance. Nevertheless, the performance of hospitality industry is affected by competitors and environmental variables. Consequently, in order to investigate the relationship between performance of ITHs and external environmental variables, this paper uses Tobit regression model. Empirical results reveal that: 1. The average of TE and SE in 2006 are greater than those in 2005, and the SE are positively correlated to the number of rooms. 2. About the external factors, whether ITHs are international or independent operated, the operational styles are not different in the performance. In addition, we measured the market level by using market share ratio; the result showed that the market share and the performance are highly positive related.
