Two hundred fifteen pregnant women were recruited form the gynecology and obstetrics department of a medical center in Northern Taiwan, during the period June 15 and July 15 2007. Two hundred and fifteen pregnant (99.7%) women completed the four structured questionnaire: demographic information, body image questionnaire, importance of others' view and sexual satisfaction questionnaire. Data analyses included average, standard deviation, median, range, percentage, Chi-Square Test, Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance by rank, One-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, Spearman’s rho correlation and simple liner regression. The main results are shown as follows: 1. The pregnant woman's body image average score was 3.26, are explained pregnant woman feeling the body view is tends positive. The attitude toward body image depended upon the gestation and childbirth times, body mass index (BMI) and weight. The important prediction for changes in body image included gestation time, body mass index (BMI), importance of others' view and sexual satisfaction. The variance rates are explained as follows: 3.5% for the amount of gestation, 2.2% for body mass index (BMI), 2.2% for the gestation period actual increase in body weight, 4.2% for importance of others' view, and 5.2% for sexual satisfaction. Sexual satisfaction can predict pregnant woman's body image and explained 5.2% of the variance rates. The result of this study provides more understanding about body image and sexual satisfaction of the pregnant women, it also helpful for the medical professionals be able to deal with the pregnant women who face with their body image changes and their sexual life problems.
